Facial Makeover
A facial makeover can bring back the younger-looking features of an individual. There are several procedures to achieve a full facial makeover. These procedures take time to plan, administer and recover.
Careful planning is key for a successful facial makeover and recovery time will depend on the type and combination of surgeries you will undergo.
Facial Makeover Procedures
- Face lift - A face lift is often used to correct sagging neck, brow and jaw line. A plastic surgeon uses the latest techniques in muscle tightening, augmentation and fat removal on the facial areas that need it.
- Rhinoplasty - This procedure is used to reshape and fix the nose. Rhinoplasty involves changing the shape and size of the nose by decreasing or increasing the bridge, reshaping the tip, narrowing the nostrils or narrowing the entire nose when required.
- Botox - One of the most popular facial procedures is botox. It is less invasive and recovery period only takes minutes after the procedure. Botox corrects fine lines and wrinkles.
- Collagen - The lips and the skin below the eyes are the most common areas that can be treated with collagen injections. It plumps up the sagginess to create a firmer and younger look.
- Blepharoplasty - Correction of upper eyelids and puffed eye bags can be done through blepharoplasty. A plastic surgeon can customize the look for a patient to achieve a natural look.
- Skin resurfacing - Laser skin resurfacing can correct skin problems such as wrinkles, sun damage, aging, chicken pox scars and acne. Laser beams remove the damaged layer of skin to expose the smoother part underneath.
Recovery from Facial Makeover
Since facial makeover generally involve surgical procedures, it is important to know the risks and the post-surgical practices you can do at home after your facial surgery.
For more complicated procedures such as facelift, rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty, the recovery time takes months after the surgery. At least 2 weeks is required to heal the sutures and a few more weeks to fully recover. Expect swollenness, pain and numbness after these procedures. Pain killers are prescribed to help during the recovery period.
Proper home and outdoor care are essential during the recovery process. Avoiding sun exposure and extreme temperatures should also be observed during this time.
Other procedures may only require a few weeks to recover, while some- like botox and collagen- only takes a few minutes to an hour after the procedure.
Facial makeover is a serious business. It should be well-planned and thought of since the procedures are irreversible and expensive.
